How does a solar electricity system work?

U.S. Department of Energy

The solar cells on the panels installed on the roof absorb photons from the sun and release electrons creating an electrical current in the form of direct current (DC). This electricity then flows into the inverter which converts the DC current into alternating current (AC) so it can be used in your home or office.

What are the tax credits and rebates available?

Federal Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit

Consumers who install solar energy systems (including solar water heating and solar electric systems), small wind systems, geothermal heat pumps, and residential fuel cell and micro turbine systems can receive a 30% tax credit for systems placed in service now.

Washington State Renewable Energy Sales & Use Tax Exemption

In Washington State, 75% of sales tax do not apply to the sale of electricity generating equipment that use fuel cells, wind, sun, biomass energy, tidal or wave energy, geothermal, anaerobic digestion or landfill gas.

“Our project had been poorly designed and was a complete disaster…
Don Moss (and his installers) were instrumental in redesigning our system so that it would have a chance at functioning as the other company had promised.”
